Midsummer is celebrated again on June 23-24. VALO’s Midsummer offers the opportunity to enjoy the Finnish cottage atmosphere comfortably at a hotel.
The midsummer celebration, known as Juhannus, is celebrated this year on June 23-24. In Finland, it has often been customary to spend Juhannus at a summer cottage, enjoying the steam of a lakeside sauna and indulging in good food. However, the so-called city midsummer has also become more popular year by year. This trend is evident in Helsinki, where a wide range of Midsummer activities are available.
Now, immersing yourself in the Finnish cottage atmosphere at a hotel is also possible! At VALO, the traditional log saunas guarantee the cottage vibe. These saunas were hand-carved by log artisan Jaakko Holma in Pielavesi. The log saunas are located on the hotel’s rooftop, adjacent to the popular wellness area. In addition to enjoying the gentle steam, you can admire the beautiful cityscape of Helsinki and the lush greenery of the Ruskeasuo allotment garden from the rooftop.
On VALO’s covered courtyard, summer showers won’t be a bother, and Bistro ELO’s charcoal grill will also prepare many Midsummer delicacies this year. The cottage atmosphere at VALO is not limited to just sauna experiences; it can also be enjoyed in the cosy hotel rooms, minus the mosquitoes, outdoor toilets, and uncomfortable sofa beds.
VALO’s restaurants are open to serve our guests from early morning till late night during the Midsummer weekend. Meanwhile, on the rooftop, you’ll find VALO Rooftop Terrace, one of Helsinki’s most impressive terraces, also open throughout the weekend.
Welcome to experience a cozy cottage-style Midsummer at VALO Hotel & Work in Ruskeasuo, Helsinki!
