Matka Nordic Travel Fair (Matkamessut) is Northern Europe’s largest tourism industry event, which brings almost a thousand tour operators, destinations and industry companies from more than 80 different countries to the public.
The three-year wait will end when Northern Europe’s largest tourism event, Matka Nordic Travel Fair, will take place at the end of January in Helsinki Messukeskus.
The recovery of tourism after the long-lasting pandemic has started quickly, which will also be strongly reflected in the popularity of the long-awaited event. The travel fair acts as a kind of day trip around the world for the visitors, as tourism professionals from all over the world will be seen there as usual. During the fair, getting to know different travel destinations and their culture within the same space is easy.
Before the actual event opens to the public, a Matka Workshop Day 18 January 2023 shopping event aimed at professionals will be organized, during which hundreds of companies in the travel industry will trade, network and conclude cooperation agreements in pre-arranged short meetings. VALO’s representatives will be at stand 7b136 on the professional day; welcome to say hello!
On Thursday, the program includes an actual professional day with schedules, and a special day aimed at students is planned for Friday. At that time, the companies profiled as future employers will be on display, presenting jobs in the tourism, accommodation and events industries.
The event is open to the public from Friday to Sunday.
This time, the travel fair’s partner is Greece, which had already promised to participate in the cancelled event in 2021. The cooperation will continue due to the common wish of the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Matka Nordic Travel Fair.
According to a survey by the Finnish tourism industry association SMAL, Greece is already rising again this year as Finns’ most popular holiday destination.
Greece will be featured in a variety of ways during the event. The object with the status of a partner country is presented in the stands with the help of many Greek operators and in the event’s program.
During the travel fair, for example, the rich history of Greece is brought out, which includes, e.g. ancient sites, monasteries and traditional Greek villages. During the event, the diverse nature of Greece, with its various destinations and activities, can also be revealed. Food culture, which plays an important role, will not be forgotten.
In addition to various destinations and activities, responsibility is also at the centre. Fair visitors will also be presented with how it is possible to visit and travel in Greece so that the nature and communities of the destinations can withstand the growing number of tourists.
Professional day of the travel fair, Thursday, 19 January 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Days open to the public, Fri-Sun 20.1.-22.1.2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A three-day Caravan fair is also organized in connection with the travel fair.
